Battling Summer Cold

Both myself and the little one have been battling our summer sniffles. It first began with me last week. It started with a sore throat which cause my voice into sounding raspy and then I got congested and a runny nose. Having a cold in the summer is definitely not fun especially in the heat. It just becomes a major annoyance. After a week of constant Dayquil and Nyquil I was able to shake it off. Once I did however, poor Ava started to sniffle and get a runny nose. It is her first cold. It hasn't affected her her much during the day - she just had Mum constantly wiping her little itty bitty red nose. Nighttime has been very uncomfortable for her with her nose being clogged, she hasn't been able to breath properly while she sleeps. Just as a precaution we visited the doctor today to rule out an ear infection etc. Luckily everything checked out okay. The doctor's advise was to continue with the saline drops to clear her nose before meals and bedtime. She also recommended good old chicken soup (or in her case chicken broth). So there you have it, I received the same advise that mom would have given me from the doctor. But being the worry wart that I am I rather be safe then sorry.

So lets hope the cold will run it course after a week.

By the way, the doctor weighed her today and she ways 19.1 lbs. She's getting heavy :)
