Photo Christmas Cards

So anyone who knows me knows that I just love pretty stationary. I'm not sure exactly what my fascination is, after all it's just paper. But once you personalize it, it becomes special. I especially enjoy the thought of mailing a little note and knowing it will make the receiver smile once they open it. Call me old fashion but in the age of emails I still prefer letters, or notes any day. It's just more personal & thoughtful in my opinion. Besides a heartfelt note can be saved and treasured unlike an email.

So as Christmas got closer, I got giddy about creating the perfect Christmas card with the perfect picture. Last year, we all dressed up in our Holiday best to have our pictures taken. It wasn't easy with our 1 year old who was always on the go go go to sit still, pose and smile for the camera. However despite all her energy we still managed to capture few nice shots. This year was a very different story. One evening after work we all dressed up for this years photos. We informed our now two year old that we were going to take pictures and how fun it would be. She seemed excited and happy to be dressed and going. We walked and and saw many children there waiting and taking photos. When we were up for our session, Miss Ava wanted nothing to do with it! We tried everything from bribing everything she has ever liked! Her response each and every time - "No" or "No way!" She just refused to stand or sit or even get close to the canvas back drop. We even had perfect strangers who were waiting trying to help us and still nothing. The photographers suggested to go for a walk around the mall where we were to see if we could work off some of her energy. When we returned, she still refused. So 2 hours later we threw in the towel and accepted there would be no pictures.

Vic & I had discussed going one more time but then decided against it fearing the same outcome. Instead I went online and worked on putting something together with photos we already had of Ava. I must admit, I'm quite happy with it. We didn't get the family photo like we initially wanted but it's cute none the less.

  1. I LOVE this year's card - I love candid shots and she has such a carefree and happy smile in all these pictures - it just warms your heart! I know there is something nice and Christmasy (not a word, I know) about a formal Christmas shot but I think the candid ones usually capture the spirit of the little ones even better!
