Before & After Oven Project

A couple of weeks ago I was visiting one on my girl friends and I asked her how she kept her oven so clean? She answered with a chuckle and said "by not using it!". That explained it all. I use mine constantly for everything year round. Although it should be no excuse being a working mother of a toddler leaves me little time to keep up on my routine cleaning. Since the arrival of my little one, my oven has been loooong neglected. So much so that a little TLC just wouldn't do it. Cleaning this thing turned into a project that I kept putting off with countless excuses. However I did receive inspiration from before & afters of  the following blog, the House of Grace. This weekend I gave it a go. I set the oven's self cleaning during the night on high for 4:30 hrs. I didn't use any spray or chemicals beforehand. I just let the oven do it's thing. The next morning I was curious to see how much cleaning was left for me to to do. To my surprise not very much, thank heavens!! So I got my scrubbers, sponges, rags and my Shaklee scour paste ready. I must admit it took me a good hour to tackle this job but I was on a mission to get this thing spotless and sparkling. The paste worked great, a little bit goes a long way. I use it on my pots and pans and even on my porcelain electric stove top.

So are you ready for the before and after photos? I must warn you that the before photo is shocking and disgusting. It made me cringe anytime I looked at it. I even debated not showing it as not to embarrass my family but it must be shown for you to visualize and appreciate the transformation. So here it goes, you have been warned!!!......

BEFORE - BLAH!!!!!

AFTER - What a Beauty!

I'm soooo content and happy to have a clean oven again! So much so that a few times today I have peaked inside just to look at it again :)
