Father's Day Weekend

Hope all the Dad's out there had a great Father's Day. We celebrated all weekend instead of cramming everyone in one day. It all began Friday evening when we had dinner with Grandpa Victor. We were all pleasantly surprised with Ava's good behavior, phew! Then it was off to the Toy store! One of her favorite places she visits with Grandpa Victor. In fact when we told her we were going to see Grandpa Victor, she asked "and we go to the toy store?" Oh yes my love :) We practically had the whole store to ourselves, it was great! Here Ava & Grandpa Victor playing toss.

On Saturday we visited Grandpa & Grandma for a nice evening cookout. The weather was fabulous and so was our grilled steak. When we opened the patio umbrella, we had a surprise guest. Can you see him below? He blends in well but if you look close there is a tiny frog at the base. This tree frog probably thought this was a tree! Linda & Mark told us that despite his small size he is super LOUD during the night and quite annoying!!

Mmm dessert, red velvet cake... yummers!

On Sunday we were off to Nana & Vovo's for an excellent Portuguese style lunch/dinner. We had bife a cavalho which is beef fillets with a fried egg on top. This was served along side rice and veggies. Can you say delicious? We also had Carne Alentejana which is marinated pork with clams and potatoes. Victor tells me all the time, you need to learn your Mom's terrific recipes! I guess one of the reasons I haven't is because she does it so well. But I know I should, I want to be able to make these great meals for Ava to enjoy too. For dessert we had Mom's Orange cake and I made a no bake blueberry cream cheese pie which everyone enjoyed.

Enjoying a nice ride in the yard w/ Vovo.

Do you remember Dad's Father's gift from last year? We brought it out again.

Ahhh Daddy got to relax on his special day w/ his very happy sweet pea

Daddy playing horsey per Ava's request. Giddy up she says!!

We had a wonderful time visiting all the special Dad's in our lives. So blessed to have such great men who truly love their families and their role as dads. My hubby is a wonderful Dad and Lord knows I could never do it without him. I often think back to when Ava was just a newborn & I was postpartum, I thank Heavens I had him to help both me and her. We value and appreciate all that you do for us beyond words can say. The same goes to our dad's. We love you all!
